Kothandaramaiah Reddy well known as KR is a Tamil Film Director, Screenwriter, Producer, Distributor and an Exhibitor. He has directed and distributed successful, groundbreaking films such as Eeramana Rojave, Irratai Roja, Vanaja Girija, Dharma, Alexander, Dancer, My Dear Kuttichathan - India's 1st 3D film, Jai Vedalam - India's 1st mythological 3D movie, Spy Kids 3D Game Over, Pesum Padam - A silent, black comedy film, Engalayum Vazha Vidungal - Talking animals movie.

His film Dancer won the "Special Jury Award " at the National Film Awards, 2004, also the "Best Villain", "Special Prize", "Best Family Film" at the Tamilnadu State Film Awards, 2004 and "Honourable Mention" at the Picture This Film Festival, Canada, 2006.

Prior to establishing his entry into films, KR pursued film processing course at Adyar Film Institute, Chennai in 1972. Upon graduation in 1975, he spent 3 years as a technician in Doordarshan Kendra. Soon after that, KR decided to pen his debut film, a malayalam feature Sisirathil Oru Vasantham, also produced and directed by him, the film faced a lot of distribution hassles and was eventually released by Suguna Screens in 1980. Although the film din't see much success at the box office, it gave him the impetus to take the plunge in film distribution and exhibition covering territories such as Chennai City, North Arcot, South Arcot, Chengelpet and Pondicherry. KR, thereafter wrote, produced and directed many successful films thus creating a niche for himself in the Tamil Film Industry.

Drawing on several years of experience in various areas of film making, this knowledge provided a platform to develop his own formula for producing a commercially viable film for the Indian Film Market. KR has and still continues to advise several production companies on their projects with small to large budgets that target and maximise potential revenue.

His book "Iduthan Cinema" was published in 2003 and has since guided many aspiring film makers thereby helping them gain a foothold in the Tamil Film Industry.
